The Gift of Life--You Could Save a Life

My good friend and industry colleague Stacie Tamaki needs your help. Stacie's cousin Tami was recently diagnosed with Myelodysplastia, a condtion otherwised known as MDS. Similar to Leukemia patients, bone marrow transplant is the answer for MDS patients.

Just 4 simple cheek swabs is all you need to join the National Bone Marrow Registry. If matched, you could save a life! Find out how you could help Tami and possibly others in similar need at HelpingTami.org.

Ant Invasion

We had an episode of ant invasion this weekend. A trail of ants were found along the kitchen sink even without signs of food nearby. The small army of ants led back to a small crevice between the base molding and the wall closest to the sink. I then remember what my friend Stacie Tamaki once told me that ants love to follow water source. After close inspection by my very handy husband, he found the sign of an exterior leak near the sink location. I supposed that it was a good warning the ants brought, without them we may have ended up not noticing the leak.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Please help those in need to get a free mammogram checkup.

Tell ten friends to tell ten today! The Breast Cancer site is having trouble getting enough people to click on their site daily to meet their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged woman. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on 'donating a mammogram' for free (pink window in the middle).

This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors /advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate mammogram in exchange for advertising.
Here's the website! Pass it along to people you know.

Where did the acorns go?

We left some acorn branches we used for last weekend's wedding outside our studio, and noticed that the acorns on the branch have been dwindling since. This morning I caught a glimpse of a neighborhood squirrel in the act--munching on the acorns! By noon, all the acorns are gone.

When it was still intact, the acorn branch makes quite nice of a material to add height and sculptural lines to a centerpiece, as we did for Bridget and Brett's wedding. Above is a sneak preview of it.
